“Although this is a Digital Occupation statement, it is not how I am used to engaging. Human contact is key. However, I will do my best to put to words what my spirit wants to express. In this occupation, I am an artist of multimedia, but mainly, I am here as an elder. In my Nueta-Hidatsa-Sahnish culture, elders are looked to for guidance, in that they have their lifelong experience and usually have knowledge of their cultural past and present, to carry forward. As an elder, it is my responsibility to share the teachings that I've been given, to future generations, to carry forward a spiritually strong and powerful way of being. I am the elder presence, in this occupation, to insure the life of the fire is present, with prayer and tobacco offerings to help guide our intentions and bring about the best possible outcome, from ourselves and the inhabitants of the land we occupy.”
