Red Brigade Films series: Laura Ortman

Thisdocumentary in our STTLMNT series features White Mountain Apache musician and sound artist Laura Ortman at her home and the surrounding area where she lives in Brooklyn, New York. Laura is a soloist and vibrant collaborator who works across recorded albums, live performances, filmic and artistic soundtracks, and is versed in Apache violin, piano, electric guitar, keyboards, and pedal steel guitar, often sings through a megaphone, and is a producer of capacious field recordings. In this short documentary Laura takes us into her world through her music and shares poetic unpacking of relationship to place, to community, to the STTLMNT project and to her art form, reflecting, “..We are playing together and learning our songs together...”
